Courses for Schools
I provide training for Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Parent Helpers and Mid-day Assistants. This training includes Listening and Counselling skills, Play Therapy Skills, Bubble Time, Child Behaviour Management and Building Confidence and Self-esteem.
This training can take place in-house or on one of the set course dates which take place in Rivenhall or Takeley.

Play Therapy Skills
3 Day Workshop for Adults who work with Children
Helping vulnerable children who have emotional or behaviour issues
This workshop will provide participants with:

The ability to communicate with children effectively through play and also show how play can be a means of teaching children essential personal and social skills.

Understanding of the theory of client-centred play therapy.

Use of different techniques and different media

Skills that they can incorporate in their existing work with children and young people

The ability to use their learning to enhance both their understanding of children’s emotional and behavioural development and their skills in working with children who experience difficulties
Through demonstrations and practicing with each other, participants will experience the power of child-centred play therapy.

Well Being Mentor Training
A 6 day course for LSA’s in primary or secondary schools
The Well Being Mentor Training course trains adults in supporting children and young people with social, behaviour and emotional difficulties which are making them unhappy and preventing them from reaching their full educational potential.
It provides school support staff with more skills, strategies and confidence to help children and young people.
This course teaches adults how to:

Actively listen and respond appropriately to children and understand when and how to use these skills

To build upon existing skills and to acquire new ways of communicating with children
-
How to use Art and Play Therapy to develop a child’s communication skills, build confidence and self esteem, explore specific issues and promote co-operative behaviour.

Recognise the importance of building a relationship with a child which is based on mutual respect and trust.

Help children to take responsibility for their behaviour, teach them how to manage conflict constructively and to support them in resolving issues
The teaching and learning methods are varied-and include, experiential work, exercises on strategies, group discussion and feedback. The training is 30 hours held over 6 days.
Local LDG’s in South Woodham Ferrers, Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree and Maldon have taken part in this training course providing a service for their more vulnerable children.
Building Confidence and Self-esteem in Children
A one day course for LSA’s which looks at how we can help children in becoming more confident, teaching them strategies which they can use in different situations. Participants will leave with a planned 6 week course and the skills to put together further sessions which incorporate the necessary elements. They will also have the opportunity to share their experiences with others.
This course will be held on January 19th 2012 at Rivenhall Village Hall from 9.30am - 3.30pm

Managing Child Behaviour
A one day course for LSA’s to look at different ways of helping children who have behaviour issues. This will give people an opportunity to reflect on the strategies they use at present sharing them with other course participants. We will then discuss alternative ways to help children to manage their behaviour and a greater understanding of the children
This course will be held on March 1st 2012 at Rivenhall Village Hall, Nr Witham
