Frequently Asked Questions

Are the sessions confidential?
Yes completely – however with children it can be useful to communicate some things to the parents that have been discussed in the session and usually the children are quite happy for this to happen.

What happens in the first session?
If a parent contacts me with regard to a problem with their child, I meet with them first to get the background information and the issues they would like me to address.
When working with an adult, again this session is to gather all the relevant information and what they would like to get out of the sessions.
In the first session with a child, we chat and play games to establish a relationship so that they feel comfortable with me.

How old are the children you work with?
I work with children from the age of 5 – 14
With children under 5, I work with the parent alone to resolve the issues that are concerning them.   

About Me

I am an experienced teacher, counsellor and coach. I have taught for many years in the UK and abroad, working with both children and adults.    

I trained as a counsellor in 1996 and an NLP practitioner in 1999 and it was at this point I realised that i could help families with my wide knowledge and skills. My focus on child behaviour then led to me working one to one with children and parents, both in schools and in private practice which has proved most rewarding. I have also provided training for adults who work in schools and parents on Listening and Play Therapy Skills.

The world has changed greatly since I was a child and it seems to me that children are going to need greater skills to make their way in the world.  By working together with  parents and children,  we can make a huge difference in the lives of our children
